The Start

   On January 11, 2008 Need A Ear went online under a fresh domain registered on January 1, 2008. The hosting was paid one year in advance and there are no plans to not pay for the next year. The website, Need A Ear plans on staying around. The template was a plain blue CSS and XHTML formatted placeholder.

   By mid-January the website has became a hit among message forum communities. Need A Ear gets a sustained 300 – 500 (sometimes more!) hits on the site daily. The average constantly changes. Some months better then others, some not so good, but the growth remains at a steady pace.

   On July 20, 2008 Ai of Deadly Nightshade created a new template/design for Need A Ear that which today is the current one.

v1

   NeedAEar had no official template for some time. It was always said to be coming soon. NeedAEar's original designer had some real life issues to sort out, and by all retrospects, NeedAEar believes real life is a much greater importance then internet friends.

   NeedAEar's original template was blue with no graphics. It was just some CSS and text slapped together and very few avatars.

v2

   v2 came around on July 20th, 2008! It had an anime design, Light from Death Note. This design was created by Ai/Julia the owner of The Deadly Nightshade. The design was dark and seemed to have very little glimpse of hope. The design was powerful, and very personal.

   NeedAEar experienced an explosion when new avatars were added, all of quality design. We increased our avatars from around ~30ish to 80 exactly. Comments poured in, and the owner of NeedAEar, Nick Burrus announced that NeedAEar will NEVER have a comments or rating system. Nick Burrus believes a comment or rating system will diminish the point of which he created this resource.

   NeedAEar has removed JavaScript completely for v2. This meant textboxes that the link automatically highlighted and copied for the graphics that v1 had was removed. NeedAEar became advertisement free with v2. v1 had advertisements for Nick Burrus' friend whom used Google Ads.

v2.5

   v2.5 is mainly a reorganization of NeedAEar. 2.5 introduced a new features for NeedAEar that rely upon the use of JavaScript more heavily before. This is the second time NeedAEar has tried out JavaScript. The reintroduction of JavaScript allowed the loved features of v1; the auto-highlight to return. v2.5 offers a more extensive form of it.

   NeedAEar v2.5 introduces the template that was also created by Ai/Julia of The Deadly Nightshade created for v3. The design is much more professional, less personal, and sleek and simple. No feature of v3 was released with the 2.5 released. 2.5 was released on Friday, October 31, 2008. Happy Halloween! This resulted in NeedAEar to be taken offline for an hour and a half as reorganization was being done and preparation for v3 features that are under construction.

v3

   There is no word out on v3 yet besides there will be a grave amount of new features. Old policies are still being stood by, and NeedAEar will still be ad free.
